Updated review, regarding the new OS
This is, and has been, one of my favorite and most-used productivity apps. I dont have a huge issue with the OS overhaul the latest update has brought, but to add to/echo a few other reviews on here, I will point out a few things I feel the app has lost in the transition: First, the new graph generator of previous days pomodoros is awful. One of my favorite thing about the old version was the visual connecting each day in a wonderful geometric fashion; reducing it to red bars loses most of that appeal. Secondly, the integration of the Cancel button (previously placed at the bottom of the screen, while the Pause/Resume button was sensibly in the middle of the pomodoro cycle) into the middle button is a huge mistake in terms of design. It is now extremely easy to accidentally cancel out a pomodoro-in-progress when you move to unpause it, should you have to do so. To my mind this is a massive design flaw, especially when the previous version had this issue so well handled. Finally, since the update the sounds of the app play aloud whether the iPhone is silenced or not; this seems unnecessary, and a nuisance when using the app in a public place (where silently running pomodoros might be more appropriate).
I hope the devs will take these notes into consideration and make a few small adjustments to re-incorporate some of the better aspects of previous versions back into the app; I have no problem with the redesign as a whole, but it should not impact usability or the aesthetics of the thing. Until then, I’ll be down-grading to version 2.7.
